Combating Child Domestic Labor (CCDL)

WOSCA has commenced in July 2016 a three year intervention to combat child domestic labour in Keonjhar district, to prevent and rehabilitated child domestic labour with the support of Plan India to address the root causes of worst forms of child labour through mainstreaming education for children and economic empowerment of families of children.

In partnership with Plan India, WOSCA is implementing CCCD (Child Centred Community Development) project from 2012. Children are the future citizens and leaders. It is a travesty that they are unable to realize their dreams because schools are in bad shape, there are no computer training facilities or no opportunities to learn and grow. Many of the children are from families who cannot afford the computer, internet like facilities available in towns.

Promotion of Renewable Energy

To reduce the hazards associated with climate change, WOSCA also encouraged the use of solar home lighting equipment. Lanterns and several lights powered by solar energy have been installed to compensate for the energy that would have ordinarily come from fossil fuels.

Social Audit of MGNREGS

WOSCA has been taking active part in Social Audit of MGNREGS to ensure transparency in the implementation of MGNREGS. During this year WOSCA has taken up two times social audit in 20 GPs of Patna block with the support of District Rural Development Agency, Keonjhar. During the audit it was found that there are many issues which need to be addressed for the smooth implementation of MGNREGS. These include issues like delay payment, Muster roll verification, verification of MB Book, assessment of quality of work, etc. The findings of the audit were shared with Block and DRDA. In most of the audit programmes participation of the community and PRI members was visible.

Management of Maternity Waiting Home (MWH)

WOSCA along with the support of NHM, extends support to the expectant mothers who come from far-flung areas seeking maternal health care and stay in the Maternity Waiting Home / Maa Gruha. To the inmates of the waiting Home, health check up and nutrition (milk, fruit, lunch, dinner and dry rations) are provided to patients free of cost. WOSCA bears the cost of health care of the inmates and provides supportive institutional aids. The service of a gynaecologist is provided on daily basis.

With the support of Ministry of Women & Child Development, Govt. of India WOSCA has been facilitating two CHILDLINE Sub-centres at Banspal and Anandapur block for the children with different needs, who call in anytime, anywhere, and for anything. Those Sub-centres act as one-point contact which facilitates instant access to support, advice, active intervention or just a listening ear.
